Description

Waterproof, highly durable technical hardshell. For sustained exposure in severe conditions.

Built from PFC-free Pertex® Shield — 3-layer, 70-denier, 20,000mm waterproofing with a 100% recycled face — the Asgard is Jöttnar’s most fully featured hardshell. Designed for all-mountain skiing, winter climbing and mountaineering in the worst weather the mountain produces.

Helmet-compatible storm hood with laminated mouldable peak. RECCO® rescue transponder. Venting pit zips. Four external pockets sized and positioned for use under a harness or pack, plus lift pass arm pocket. Every detail is in the specification below.

Pertex® Shield — why 70D matters— 70-denier Pertex® Shield: is heavier, tougher and more abrasion-resistant than the 40D used in the Midgard. 70D is a deliberate choice for sustained mountain use where the jacket will endure pack friction, rock, rope, crampon and ski edge contact over extended periods.

Layering fit— Articulated cut with a scoop-drop back hem and micro-seam construction to reduce. Enough room to layer over a midlayer or down jacket. The scoop-drop hem maintains coverage across the lower back when reaching.

Hood—Climbing helmet-compatible, wire-stiffened with a mouldable laminated peak that holds its shape in driving rain. Glove-compatible Cohaesive™ cinch cords at aperture and rear allow precise adjustment without removing gloves. The RECCO® Rescue System reflector is integrated into the hood peak — passive rescue technology requiring no action from the wearer.

Zips & weather sealing— YKK® AquaGuard® VISLON® 2-way front zip with internal storm gasket. All pocket zips are YKK® AquaGuard® laminated. Pit zips use the same AquaGuard® system — venting without compromising waterproof integrity. All pullers are glove-compatible and corded.

Pockets— Five pockets with specific purposes: two large chest pockets (OS map compatible, rucksack accessible); two hand pockets (harness and rucksack compatible); one internal mesh dump pocket (hats, gloves, ski skins); one internal stretch valuables pocket; one forearm lift pass pocket.

Cuffs— Hypalon® tabs with triple-reinforced VELCRO™ stitching — Hypalon® is a synthetic rubber compound used at high-wear points. Elasticated cinch seals against wind ingress at the wrist without glove removal.

Comfort details— Soft internal neck guard and brushed microsuede beard guard eliminate chafe at the collar during extended wear. Micro-seam construction reduces bulk at the joins.
