Steve Harley and Cockney Rebel are well known for one particular song, from February 1975, but there’s a lot more to them than “Make Me Smile”. 1973 to 1977 saw a series of distinctive albums with a unique musical style that built a loyal following throughout Europe. Steve Harley continued to record a number of solo albums, and still tours today with some of the early band members to sell out crowds. One novel concert included a full orchestral production of their first two albums The Human Menagerie and The Psychomodo, performed to a packed Birmingham Symphony Hall crowd in 2012 ( …. and Make Me Smile wasn’t even on the play list).
